About Fixed Bushfire Sprinkler Systems

A fixed bushfire sprinkler system is a network of sprinklers that are permanently installed around the exterior of a house or building. The system is designed to protect against bushfires by spraying water on the roof and surrounding yard to drench the area and create a moisture barrier to extinguish hot embers before they can ignite the structure.

How it works

  •  Water is supplied to the sprinklers by a pump fed by a water tank. The pump can be fuel or electric driven and may be remote start or manual start.
  • The sprinklers are strategically positioned around the perimeter of the structures to target flying embers before they can reach combustible materials.

Benefits

  •  Provides reliable water coverage across at-risk areas.
  • We recommend using rotating sprinkler heads instead of impacts as the rotating head throws water out horizontally limiting the effect high winds will have on the water particles.
  • Will help prevent ignition from flying embers, which are a significant cause of bushfires spreading.

Installation

  •  Fixed bushfire sprinkler systems need to be custom fitted to your house by a tradesperson or they can be installed DIY if you have the skills.
  • The system is generally connected to an ring main around the perimeter of the structure to supply maximum water supply to all sprinkler heads.

Cost

  •  The cost of a fire sprinkler system depends on the size of the system, the complexity of the installation, and other factors

Reasons to use our Drencher Heads

Australian Designed and Manufactured Bushfire Sprinkler Heads

Our range of double arm heads have been designed specifically for ember defense.

Our heads have the following advantages

  • Water efficiency - 4 Litres per minute for each head at 100 KPa
  • Ease of maintenance, all parts come apart for cleaning.
  • Low profile design
  • Fewer moving parts, simple operation.
  • We use thick walled Brass tubing  for our arms.

Flow Control Drencher Sprinkler

Flow Control Drencher Sprinkler

Our Australian Made 4 port / 2 Arm Rotary Head, is a robust heavy duty option to imported sprinkler heads.

It protects a 15M Diameter area using 4LPM @ 100KPa, recommended spacing is 6M.

This Brass Head is made by our team in Australia.

No Flow Control I.E pressure drop if the circuit dictates the speed of the sprinkler head, first spins fastest/ last is slowest.

Important Information about our Rainmaker Heads

    Arm Positioning

Isolate the copper from the Roofing Material

    Angle of Install

The arm positions are critical to the sprinklers performance. The head needs to rotate clockwise to or a failure will occur as the spindle will undo from the head. We could have used lock-tight on the thread but then you could not dismantle the head during  maintenance.

    Angle of Install

Isolate the copper from the Roofing Material

    Angle of Install

The head will rotate at any angle, we recommend running the tube at the first row of roofing screws above the gutter and setting the heads at 45 degrees. Running the tube on the facia under the gutter and having the heads vertical is another option.

We recommend using an isolator to mount your copper tube, this will reduce  galvanic corrosion.

We have Clic isolators in our store for this purpose.
