Frequently Asked Questions

Set Up for bushfire sprinklers

How does the sprinkler protect my home?

Our Rainmaker Bushfire Sprinklers are designed to drench the roof, walls and yard. The wet surfaces extinguish hot wind blown embers and increase the humidity around your home.

Can I use my garden hose with the Rainmakers?

The Rainmaker DA will operate at a lower water pressure, it will continue to operate when the towns water pressure drops, which happens when a bush fire approaches. If you are after a bush fire sprinkler to simply attach to your garden hose this is it. We recommend connecting a maximum of two sprinklers to each tap using a two way splitter.

I have a fire pump and hose, why do I need a Rainmaker Sprinkler?

A fire pump and hose are a great asset, but you need to stand out in the smoke and embers to use it and a hose nozzle can use a large amount of water very quickly up to 600 litres per minute covering around a 6 metre area.

A Rainmaker attached to your pump will use your water much more effectively and efficiently, as well as being mounted allowing it to operate unattended.

To compare the Rainmaker impact uses 10 litres per minute covering a 25 M area and the Rainmaker DA uses 5 litres per minute to cover a 10 M area.

Won't the strong winds blow the water away from my house?

No, the strong wind actually helps the sprinkler protect your home. We recommend positioning the sprinkler on the side of your home facing the fire front, as the wind pushes the front towards your home it will also be forcing the water onto your walls and roof, increasing the effectiveness of the water barrier.

I plan to leave early and I'm insured, why do I need one?

A Rainmaker DA sprinkler attached to towns water can be set up in 10 minutes and left running when you leave. It will continue to spray water over your home and yard as long as there is water pressure. You need a Rainmaker because the possibility of saving your home and possessions is better than facing the devastation and cost of rebuilding.

I'm not sure what I need? What is the best set-up for me?

Everyone's situation is different, while we recommend at at least two sprinklers this may not suit you. Please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss your needs, or send us an email, we will happily help.
